The Kulevi Oil Refinery, situated on the Georgian Black Sea coast and operated by Black Sea Petroleum, has received its second shipment of Libyan El Sharara crude oil within a month. Since commencing operations in October 2025, the facility has focused exclusively on processing non-Russian oil as part of a strategic long-term supply contract. These deliveries are intended to support the provision of refined products to European markets. While the refinery currently supplies straight-run products, the company has announced plans to initiate the production of EURO 5 standard fuel by 2029. This development highlights ongoing efforts to diversify fuel sources for Europe, reducing reliance on traditional supply chains and enhancing regional energy security through infrastructure located in the Black Sea region.
