The Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance has announced the recovery of thirty human remains at a location in Poland. This site is associated with the killing of Ukrainian civilians by Polish partisans during the Second World War. Oleksandr Alfyorov, the director of the institute, expressed gratitude toward Polish authorities for authorizing the investigation. He stated that this collaborative effort is a significant step toward achieving genuine reconciliation regarding the complex historical relationship between the two nations. This development follows a reciprocal agreement, as Ukraine has recently permitted Polish teams to conduct searches and exhumations of Polish citizens who were killed by Ukrainian nationalists during the same conflict period.
