Actor John Boyega is set to appear in a new BBC Two documentary discussing the 2000 murder of his childhood friend, Damilola Taylor. Boyega, who was eight years old at the time, admits that revisiting the traumatic event remains difficult, noting that the incident caused him significant distress as a child. Damilola Taylor was ten years old when he was fatally stabbed with a broken bottle in a south London stairwell while returning from an after-school activity. The case resulted in a lengthy legal process spanning six years and multiple trials before a manslaughter conviction was finally achieved. As Boyega prepares for fatherhood, he reflects on how this early experience of loss has influenced his personal development and his perspective on parenting.
