Victor Ambros, the American scientist awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Medicine for his pioneering work on microRNA, has been granted Polish citizenship. The news was communicated directly to him by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Ambros, whose father left Poland in the aftermath of the Second World War, had expressed his intention to obtain a Polish passport during a trip to Warsaw earlier this year. The laureate stated that he aims to utilize his new status to bolster the international reputation of Poland's scientific community. Prime Minister Tusk publicly welcomed the Nobel winner to the country following the formalization of his citizenship status.
