Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has characterized the ongoing speed limitations on Starlink satellite services within Ukraine as a calculated effort. According to the president, the SpaceX-operated system remains throttled when moving at speeds exceeding 160 km/h, which hinders the military's ability to utilize certain drones against Russian aerial threats. Zelenskyy noted that tests conducted by moving Starlink-equipped vehicles into European Union territory showed no such performance caps, as the service functioned normally at higher velocities. These findings led the Ukrainian leader to conclude that the restrictions are specifically targeted at his country. This situation has intensified concerns regarding Kyiv's dependence on American private technology for its defense operations, particularly as political friction between the Ukrainian government and Washington persists.
