President Vladimir Putin has positioned the upcoming parliamentary elections as a reflection of public support for Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine. The three-day election, starting Friday, will determine the members of the 450-seat State Duma, with the ruling United Russia party expected to maintain its dominance. This marks the first election since the war escalated in February 2022, amid growing anxiety among some citizens regarding the conflict's impact on their lives and the economy. In a televised address, Putin emphasized that voting would showcase national unity and resolve against external pressures, urging the populace to demonstrate solidarity with Russian soldiers and support for the state amidst unprecedented challenges.
