A court in Warsaw has authorized a safe passage request for Marcin Romanowski, a former government official who has remained at large for nearly two years. Romanowski, who is reportedly hiding in the breakaway region of Transnistria in Moldova, sought this legal guarantee to facilitate his return to Poland. Despite the court's decision, Polish prosecutors formally objected to the request. They argued that the suspect’s history of evading legal authorities makes him unreliable and unlikely to adhere to the conditions of such an agreement. Justice Minister and Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek has publicly commented on the ruling, highlighting the ongoing tension between the judiciary and the prosecution regarding the handling of this high-profile case.
