Independent TD Catherine Connolly is set to host Donald Trump at the official residence of the President of Ireland. This upcoming meeting has drawn attention due to Connolly’s previous public criticisms of the former US President, whom she has characterized as a bully and a misogynist. The Irish Independent podcast, hosted by Kevin Doyle with contributors Mary Regan and John Downing, explores the potential tensions and diplomatic complexities surrounding this interaction. The discussion examines how Connolly will navigate the protocol of welcoming a figure she has openly denounced in the past, raising questions about the nature of the encounter and the challenges of maintaining formal decorum given their history of ideological disagreement.
