The primary X accounts belonging to An Garda Síochána, specifically @gardainfo and @gardatraffic, have been compromised in a significant security incident. Starting late Wednesday evening, the accounts began flooding their feeds with numerous posts advertising a cryptocurrency wallet application and soliciting users to claim XRP tokens. While the traffic update account retains its original handle, the main police account has been renamed to @XummHelpx. Both profiles now incorrectly indicate that they are based in the Netherlands. These unauthorized posts, which tag various users, are characteristic of fraudulent cryptocurrency schemes. The Irish police force has been approached for an official statement regarding the breach of these high-profile accounts, which collectively command hundreds of thousands of followers.
