A member of the Civic Coalition, the party led by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, has been taken into custody by anti-corruption authorities. This development follows a parliamentary vote to revoke the lawmaker's legal immunity, acting upon a formal request from the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO). This incident marks the first instance of the EPPO pursuing a sitting Polish parliamentarian since the current government joined the agency shortly after assuming office in 2023. Wojciech Król was escorted to the EPPO office in Katowice, where investigators intend to formally present allegations related to corruption offenses. The arrest highlights the growing influence of European judicial oversight within the Polish legal system.
