Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued a decree implementing sanctions against 44 individuals linked to the organization of unauthorized elections in Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories. These measures target participants involved in voting processes within the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions, as well as Crimea and Sevastopol. The list includes individuals who have assumed roles in illegitimate local councils, alongside collaborators and propagandists such as Yurii Onyshchuk and Irina Kuksenkova. Kyiv maintains that these electoral activities violate international law and the Geneva Convention, labeling them as fraudulent attempts to normalize the occupation. The Ukrainian government intends to share this data with international allies to encourage coordinated restrictive measures. Global partners, including the European Union and the United Kingdom, have already rejected the legitimacy of these polls, which were reportedly characterized by voter coercion and fabricated participation statistics.
