Finance Minister Peter Hummelgaard has presented Denmark's 2027 budget, which prioritizes increased funding for welfare, healthcare, and national defence. The government intends to boost municipal and regional budgets while investing in schools and daycare. A significant shift in tax policy includes abolishing middle and top-tier tax brackets, partially offset by adjustments to mortgage interest deductions and inheritance taxes. Corporate tax rates will also be reduced to enhance competitiveness. Conversely, the proposal introduces stricter criteria for student grants and pension eligibility. Defence spending is set to rise steadily, reaching 3.41 percent of GDP next year. Furthermore, the budget initiates a long-term plan for universal dental care and allocates resources for green energy transitions and civil preparedness. These measures reflect a strategic effort to balance social support with fiscal adjustments and security investments.
