Prominent members of the Polish governing coalition have expressed strong disapproval of US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth. The controversy stems from recent statements made by Hegseth that minimized the involvement and sacrifices of American allies during the military campaign in Afghanistan. Włodzimierz Czarzasty, the speaker of the Polish parliament, publicly labeled these remarks as scandalous. Furthermore, Prime Minister Donald Tusk addressed the issue by sharing a poignant message from a Polish military medic who served in the region. Tusk emphasized the importance of acknowledging the contributions of international partners, noting that 44 Polish soldiers lost their lives during the conflict. The Polish leadership is calling for greater respect for the efforts made by allied forces throughout the duration of the war.
