Łukasz Gibała, the recently elected mayor of Kraków, has announced the withdrawal of official municipal patronage for the city's annual LGBT+ equality parade. Although Gibała has participated in the event previously and expressed support for LGBT+ rights, he justified this policy shift by claiming the march has become overly partisan. The mayor, who ran as an independent candidate, stated that his administration aims to remove political influence from local government operations. While the city will no longer provide official backing for the demonstration, the decision does not prohibit the event from proceeding as planned. This move represents one of the first major policy changes introduced by Gibała following his victory in the recent municipal elections.
